Dirty cups

What if our coffee cups could talk?!

Coming to Australia without talking about Australians’ love for coffee is like going to France without eating cheese or drinking wine: it doesn’t make sense!

If there’s one thing Australians are uncompromising about, it’s their coffee and more particularly the milk foam! It must be discreet for a flat white and well present for a latte.

Here, coffee is king!

It’s quite naturally that this great prince – coffee – inspired this series of photos.

For several months, I worked in a cafe located on the ground floor of a building full of offices, in Fortidue Valley.
Every day the same customers come to get their coffee. Some are as regular as Swiss clocks! They come every day at the same time to get the same coffee. And others come more or less punctually. Most take it to go and a few drink it on site.

While observing them, I had the idea for this series: to let the coffee cups bear witness to these moments of sharing.
Each cup tells us a story, a piece of life.

Thank you Daniel, Ryan, Ben, Alex, Kai, Sam, Matt, Alex, Ben, Jen, Elle, Sam, Matt, (well they’re all called Alex, Ben, Matt or Sam!) Alisha, Asha, Nicky, Cassie, Noémie, Naomi, Loc, Pino, Cam, Ethan, Nathan, Jonathan, Laury, Rebecca, Martin, Marty, Bonnie, Lisa, Allan, Daniel, Daren, Mona, Gabby, Garry, Josh, Alex, Mark, Dan, Tigan, Jenny, Mj, LJ, Tara, Tash, Dan, Nick, Andrew, Peter, Tony, Serene, Jim, Michal and all the customers of Nikau espresso for the inspiration!

Here’s the result.

Calimero

A. is sick, K. is on the Gold Coast, and I find myself drinking my coffee alone!

And what’s more, there’s not even any watermelon left for my juice!

This day is truly shitty!

Back to reality

I would have gladly stayed a few more days on the Overland Track myself!
Coming back to the office stings a bit this morning!

Emails

16 unread emails… Again… I can’t take these emails anymore. I spend my life emptying this inbox. It’s depressing!

OK inbox cleared! It’s still satisfying though

The end

Last day at the office… I’m sad and happy at the same time. It’s a weird feeling. Sad that I won’t be having my morning coffee with E., J. and S. anymore.

Happy about this new chapter in my career.

Deadline

That’s it, the “Gabba school” project is finished! I’m happy and proud of myself! We met the deadlines. The client is very satisfied with the result. The deadline was respected and construction work can begin!
What a beautiful day!

Gossip Girls

Uh, are we going to talk about the hottie?!

Which one? The one from the 5th floor?

No! The brown-haired guy from the 8th floor!

Ahhhh yeah he’s not bad but I prefer the brown-haired guy from the 8th floor.
Have you talked to him yet?

No I don’t dare. I’m too shy and I’m not even sure he’s single haha.

Cycling

Why did I get into triathlon training?! This first week of training killed me!

Why did I follow J into this crazy nonsense?!

Promotion

I talked with the big boss yesterday and we talked about you… We’re really very happy with you.

You do excellent work. You’ve demonstrated complete and impressive qualities and skills.
That’s why we’d like to offer you the HR Director position?
What do you think?

Back to Australia

No more cherry blossoms, sake and sushi. These three months in Japan wore me out! I’m happy to see the whole team back at the office.

Interview

Hello T. How are you?

Fine and you?

Very well thank you.

I had lengthy discussions with my teams after your various interviews and we’d like to offer you the Product Designer position with a salary of 120K per year. What do you think?

I think I’m delighted!

Great, I’ll send you the contract as soon as I’m at the office. We’ll finalize the administrative part so you can start next Monday then.

Perfect! Have a good week and see you next Monday L.!

Thanks, have a good week too and see you next Monday T.

Love story

You’re hiding something from me!

No, why do you say that?

You have that silly look on your face, I know you! What’s his name? How old is he and where did you meet him?

His name is M., he’s 34 and I met him last Sunday at Christian Jacques. We went for drinks on Saturday and we’re seeing each other again this week.

Wow, that’s great! Do you have a photo?

No, and I’m not telling you anything else!

Meeting

Here’s the plan for the new swimming pool. It will host the Olympics in 2032.
The architects just finished the plans. Construction starts next week. We have a lot of pressure on our shoulders.

The mayor and the Olympic committee are closely monitoring the construction. We have no room for error and we absolutely must meet the deadlines.

It’s up to us to be excellent!
